About Guyana

The name Guyana is an Amerindian word which means Land of Many Waters. As the only English speaking country in South America, it is the bridge between South America and the Caribbean. With a population of over 700,000 Guyana is a multi ethnic blend of Indians, African, Chinese and Europeans.

About Georgetown

Guyana's Capital city was named after the British Conquered the Dutch in 1812. The name originated from Fort St. Georges which was established at the mouth of the Demerara River. Originally called the Garden City for its greenery and gardens, rich with architecture, heritage and historical buildings Georgetown is the melting pot of the Ethnic flavours of Guyana.
